The Weber Arboretum

In December 2010, under the direction of the ICPA, Colgate University initiated a national invitation and selection process for art and design solutions for the Weber Arboretum. After a thorough review by a jury of Colgate faculty, senior administrators, staff, students and an outside artist, five artists and landscape architect teams were invited to submit proposals.

Established by John Weber ’61 in 1986, the John C. Weber Endowment Fund is to be used by the university to “plant and maintain trees in memory of each member of the Class of 1961. Specifically, flowering trees will be purchased and planted on campus along the outer perimeter of Taylor Lake and Payne Creek, and east along Hamilton Street.”

Finalist proposals will help the University explore this and other appropriate site/s on the Colgate campus and environs that satisfy the intention and spirit of the Weber endowment fund integrated with the existing campus design, context and environment.
