Jane Fine: Ladies and Gentlemen, Please Remain Calm

September 10 - October 19, 2014

September 10 – October 19, 2014

Located on the border between figuration and abstraction, Jane Fine’s paintings and drawings are mash-ups of painterly technique including vigorous brushwork, delicate marker lines and pours of acrylic paint. Fine’s paintings and drawings unfold into wide-open spaces, full of verdant landscape and flowery psychedelia. She allows a variety of improvisatory painting styles to bump against each other, while retaining their individual flavor. Fine is a graduate of Harvard University and the recipient of grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and The National Endowment for the Arts. Jane has been invited to work at the Cité Internationale des Artes in Paris, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Millay Colony, the Golden Foundation and Yaddo.
